Copywriting isn’t as easy as it may sound. It isn’t copying work and writing, it demands more to make a profitable gain from your copywriting skills. I guess before you started your copywriting career professionally, you thought you would type away at your leisure time and get paid for basically just typing, but it didn’t quite turn out like that.

Here are three reasons why you are not making money as a copywriter:

3 REASONS WHY YOU ARE NOT MAKING MONEY AS A COPYWRITER

1. You Are Searching For Clients in the Wrong Place

You may probably have bad end stories looking for clients on Upwork, Fiverr or Freelancer; attracting clients can be strategic. Start by analyzing who your potential clients are and the type of jobs you enjoy doing the most. Stick to topics you find interesting and are passionate about.

Writers who write on topics related to their interests are more productive. While starting your copywriting jobs, you would be able to discover your interests and what works best for you. Some writers are multi-niched, you could be too. Identifying your interest and the type of topic you find exciting helps you reach out to perfect clients to work for. Choose your clients wisely.

2. You Don’t Apply the Rule of the Pareto Principle

The Pareto principle states that 80% of your results come from 20% of your effort. In simpler terms, you have to try to work harder in fulfilling your duties as a copywriter. Analyze the goals of each of your projects, clients’ expectations, if possible, request samples. This strategy will help you know how to effectively ace your copywriting jobs and meet the demands of your clients. It is obvious that giving your clients a perfect job workforce will always bring them back to you and as well get you recommended to others.

3. Wrong Copywriting Strategy

If you’re in a position where you are spending the majority of your time servicing clients and you still don’t make enough money to pay your bills, it simply means your business model is not working. As a good copywriter, you have to understand your worth. If you have decided to be a copywriter professionally as a full-time job, then it should be worth it. A good business strategy should be effective and less time draining. If your work offers are not providing enough, seek out better opportunities. If you keep getting rejected from bigger opportunities, it means you’re not packaging your writing portfolio for a successful application or you do not obtain the relevant skills needed. Then you should enhance those.

In all, it is best to identify the problems you face as a copywriter and tackle them with effective administrative strategies. Make proper corrections and get the bag going… Cheers 🍻
